Vintage and classic car bodies seldom use LARGE FLAT PANELS in construction with the exception of engine bonnets and side panels (early Rolls Royce etc) which is a design technique to enhance the impression of a great unseen power and large engines.  In other areas, body panels, mud guards and valences almost always use compound curves (in many cases quite minor curvature but still giving a result pleasing to the eye.  It is these qualities that give so much satisfaction in the ownership of such cars.  In carrying out restoration, the restorer must be mindful of these aspects and ensure the finished job is faithful to the objectives of the designer and craftsman.

Woods and Woods use the same traditional methods, hand crafting panels as would have been done originally.  In fact we still use a collection of very early tools including the English Wheeling Machine which made British coach builders world leaders in the vintage years.

Successful use of the wheeling machine is only achieved by great experience and an artful combination of eye and hand matched with a feel for the material used.  Woods and Woods challenge anyone to produce better coachwork restoration.
